Relish a trip to Esna at the East side of the Nile. Esna is situated 60 km to the south of Luxor on the west bank of the Nile.The earliest name of Esna was Iwnty then it was called tsny or sny, in the Greco-Roman period it was called Latopolis, because there is a kind of fish known by lates was sacred in this city, and in the Coptic period it was called CNH or ENCH from which came the Arabic name Esna.

At Esna, cross the barrage to visit Esna Temple on the West side which is situated 60 km south of Luxor, The temple was originally built by king Thutmosis III in the 18th dynasty and it was completed by Ptolemaic and Roman Emperors from 40-250 AD.

Then proceed to Edfu and see the Temple of Horus is considered one of the best preserved constructions, built in three stages. The inner paintings tell us how and when the temple was built. It is located on the west bank of the Nile, Edfu is in midway point between Aswan and Luxor.
